Faces from Ukraine

Three Ukrainian girls under the care of The Home Project in Greece have participated in the Faces of Our World self-portrait project. The three girls were evacuated from their orphanage in Ukraine in April 2021 and are waiting for the war to end. They have settled into their life in Athens very well. One girl says she likes everything about where she lives now, while another girl mentions loving the sea. Souvlaki (Greek food-meat on a skewer) was one girl’s favorite food. Thank you for sharing your self-portraits and your words.

“I am eight. I’m from Ukraine. I like everything about where I live now. I like ballet and cake, and I want to be a teacher when I grow up.”

“I am eleven. I am from Ukraine. I love the sea, dance, and pizza. I would like to be a manicurist when I grow up. I want to stop war.”

“I am thirteen. I am from Ukraine. I love animals, volleyball, and souvlaki. I want to be a lawyer when I grow up. I want to protect nature.”
