Faces of Our World Comes to Pine Crest

This May, I ran “Faces of Our World” workshops for close to 100 third graders at Pine Crest’s Lower School. I presented a slide show and walked students through basic facts about refugees. They were extremely engaged and asked lots of questions. They were curious about why unaccompanied minors traveled without their parents. Since many Pine Crest children come from international backgrounds, they felt a connection with these children. After a long discussion, they drew their own portraits and answered the same questions that the refugee children answered. In August, I will curate an exhibit of all the portraits along with the portraits from the refugee children.
