Food as a Tool to Remember Home

When asking for the recipes at The Home Project, I found that talking about food from home was a way for refugee kids to reconnect with memories of their pasts. One boy shared a plethora of recipes for dishes he had eaten in different Middle Eastern countries that he had travelled through on his journey to Greece. Another boy told us he could not remember food from home because he had been away for too long. Realising how much time some of the kids had been away from their homes and cultures to the point that they felt more at home in a different country with different foods was quite shocking and sad.
